Theoretical Training

8 hours of Night Rating Theory (IN-HOUSE / INSTRUCTOR-LED) covering:

  • Legislation requirements
  • Aeroplane equipment & lights
  • Flight crew & aerodrome licences
  • Night familiarisation & preparation
  • Night vision accommodation & safety precautions
  • External/internal checks – night considerations

Practical Training

5 hours flight training, including:

  • IFR NAVIGATION – IFR CROSS COUNTRY (Night) – 3 hr total
  • VMC NIGHT QUALIFICATION – 2 hr (including first SOLO)
  • SOLO flight: five (5) take offs & landings

Who Can Join The Course

  • Any candidate willing to exercise the privileges of his / her license at night
  • Be an Airplane Licence Holder, at least PPL (A)
  • Holds a Valid ELP (at least LVL 4)
